8 Terrible Arguments Sacred Texts Makes For Homosexuality

For those of you who don't know, Sacredtext.com is a website dedicated to providing visitors with an array of texts--at least that's part of what they do. They appear as a website as unbiased, hoping to only let users read the texts however if you go to the LGBT section you immediately find an array of arguments for homosexuality--and they're all pathetic.

Here are the arguments and my response to them:

1.) Of 32,000 verses in the Bible, only five directly mention homosexuality. The only way this could be a valid argument is if (1) All the Bible is is a list of rules and (2) the more something is repeated the more it is condemned. The fact is more than 70% of those verses aren't moral commands; their narrative, genealogy and poetry. And it doesn't matter how often something is identified as a sin--it only has to be condemned once. The argument relies on one's ignorance of what is in the Bible and how much for it deals with sexual immorality. As something that is defined in The Bible as sexual immoral it is referred to along with others collectively as sexual immorality closer to twenty times.

2.) Leviticus, the book of the Bible which stipulates death for homosexuality, requires the same punishment for adultery, pre-marital sex, disobedient children and blasphemy. Yes and blasphemy, adultery, premarital intercourse, and cursing parents (not simply disobeying them) remains wrong. Although we do not have to enforce the death penalties of the Torah we have an obligation to follow the Moral Law which condemns homosexuality along with the others listed above.

3.) The Biblical Jesus does not condemn homosexuality. Yeah well we don't have express written words of Jesus condemning rape and incest either so I guess Jesus would be okay with those. I'm not saying those equate to homosexuality but the argument that because we don't have a record of Jesus condemning means that He's okay with it is void. By the same logic that would mean He's okay with rape. We know that He believed in the Torah--which condemns homosexuality.

4.) The destruction of the Biblical city of Sodom was due to their mistreatment of strangers. No, it wasn't. According to Genesis the men of Sodom wanted to get to the visitors, why? They tell us: "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." They're men wanting to have sexual relations with other men. And as if it wasn't already obvious Lot offers them his daughters instead but they refuse them. The only way you could think this isn't condemning of homosexuality is if your desperately trying to make the text match your own view--which isn't fair to the text or Christianity.

5.) The Bible never condemns same sex marriage. Of course it doesn't do so directly. Let's think about this: The last book of The Bible was written in 95 AD, why would anyone expect The Bible to condemn something that wouldn't exist (in the legal sense) until the 1980's. It calls homosexual acts an abomination. You don't have to guess what it say about the idea of changing the definition of marriage to normalize those acts.

6.)
The Biblical David and Jonathan had a formal same-sex union. This is completely un-true. David and Jonathan had a great friendship and they cared about each other. Assuming that David and Jonathan were having sexual relations with one another because Jonathan loved his friend is like saying a father is a pedophile because he loves his son. If you still believe David and Jonathan were sleeping with each other here's the sources we have about Jonathan and David's relationship: 1 Samuel 18, 1 Samuel 19, 1 Samuel 20, 1 Samuel 31 and 2 Samuel 1.

7.) Homosexuality is not unnatural, it is practised by hundreds of species of animals. Here they argue that homosexuality should be accepted because animals do it. First of all the hundreds of species part is a bit of a stretch. But even if it were true taking your morality from animals is very much unintelligent. Animals eat their young, kill their own species, sleep-around, steal from one another and yet when they preform homosexual acts people say "Look this proves homosexuality isn't immoral because it's natural!"

The fact is none of these arguments prove anything; they all fall flat. Yet they are still being used to this day; sad isn't it?

Canada May End War on ISIS

Canada joined the war on ISIS in the Fall of last year. It has conducted over a hundred airstrikes against ISIS (mostly in Iraq.) Everyone from the Bishop of Damascus in western Syria to the Kurdish commanders in eastern Iraq have expressed gratitude for Canada's military support. But Canada is facing an election and two of the top candidates say they would end the war saying that Canada should only offer humanitarian support, here are the facts:

The election is on October 19, 2015.

The polls show three major parties: The Conservatives, the New Democratic and the Liberals are stuck within 5% of each other. (An up-to-date poll can be found here.)

And the political leaders say:

"...The scale of the humanitarian crisis in Iraq and Syria cannot be solved; cannot even come close to being solved by refugee policy alone. We must stop ISIS; we can accept thousands or tens of thousands and maybe all the countries in the world together, hundreds of thousands of refugees. But ISIS left to its own devices will create millions, tens of millions of refugees and victims on a monthly basis. That's why the international community intervened. President Obama and our allies felt we had no choice; we were witnessing mass slaughtering at an alarming, lightning pace that was sweeping across the region. And for Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Mulcair to say things like 'well we shouldn't be participating militarily, we should just be helping with humanitarian'--let me quote what the representatives of diaspora groups in Canada...have said 'If your policy is humanitarian assistance without military support all your doing is dropping aid on dead people.'
-Conservative leader Steven Harper

"Mark my words, when New Democrats form government on October 19, we are going to pull our troops out. We are going to bring them home.
Canada can play a more positive role in resolving this crisis. We can do that by helping our NATO ally. Turkey coped with 1.5 million refugees who have poured over its border. We can do that by using every diplomatic, humanitarian and financial resource at our disposal to strengthen the political institutions in Iraq, and yes, in Syria."
-New Democratic leader, Thomas Mulcair

"We'd move away from the CF-18 [bombing] mission...This government has failed miserably to demonstrate why the best mission for Canada is to participate in a bombing mission,"
-Liberal leader Justin Trudeau

Canada would be the first country to end its assault against the Islamic State which has killed over one hundred thousand and continues to oppress the local population.

Ten Animals To See in Canada

1.) The Beaver

Where they can be found: In every Province in Territory in Canada near rivers and small lakes.
Approximate height: 90 cm
Approximate length: one meter
Average weight: 30 kilograms
Average lifespan: 5-7 years (one in Newfoundland lived to 19 when it passed away.)
Description: Beavers are strangely shaped rodents that love to spend their time in Canada's wetlands they are unique in that they build their own homes commonly called dams. They work hard at it too--they gather sticks, use their teeth to chop down trees and use their tails to pack their materials to make a lovely home! Unfortunately for Kayakers Beaver dams often cut off rivers. The Beaver is Canada's Official animal.
Danger level: Not very, generally friendly (but don't go into his house before knocking.) As with any friendly animal it is not advised that you go closer than five meters to the creature.

Kentucky Clerk Chooses to Go Jail Over Submission

Kim Davis was taken to prison after defying the the Supreme Court by not issuing any marriage licenses. Kim Davis is a Pentecostal Christian who made it clear to gay couples she would not issue any marriage licenses when they came, this was taken to Court which decided that she should either repent and issue licenses or be held in contempt of Court. She defied the Court and was taken to jail Thursday.

Kentucky had officially outlawed any attempt to redefine marriage for more than a decade before June's decision redefined legal marriage across America. Many in Kentucky disagreed with the decision but not everyone of those side with the clerk. Many who stand by the traditional definition of marriage believe she should leave her position because the government has become corrupt. Still, others are more than willing to protest what they view as persecution. Both pro-homosexuality and traditionists chanted outside the Court House in Ashland.

One Lesbian couple have plotted a lawsuit against Mrs. Davis; it's unclear how much they plan to sue the women for follow her own conscience and religious beliefs.

Davis has been criticized for having married four times but says she only became a truly Born Again four years ago after obeying her dying mother's wish that she hear The Gospel.

Canadian School Board Decides to Force Children to Attend Pro-homosexual classes

Less than a week before the school year starts a school board has decided to deny parents' requests to take their children out of parts of sexual education classes. Earlier this year Ontario's Premier Kathleen Wynne announced her new Sexual Education program; within weeks thousands of Ontarians were protesting for several reasons; the course promotes the idea that gender is merely a social construct for eight year olds, encouraging masturbation at age 12 and teaching thirteen-year olds about anal intercourse. Parents who objected said that children are being exposed to romantic and sexual content to early and that they should be left to enjoy their 'childhood innocence.'

While most school Boards in Ontario have been willing to allow parents to take their children out of those classes they consider unacceptable--the Peel region in Mississauga refuses to. They say students must attend classes that teach that normalize homosexuality. Something about 1/3 of Ontarians believe is morally wrong. At least one women has decided to spend the hours necessary to home-school her children after the school board told parents that if they won't comply they can leave.

The Board is fully funded by tax-payers.

The Peel Public school Board is Ontario's second largest; it includes the cities of Mississauga and Brampton.  In a 2011 census, 56.9% of people in the region identified as Christian, 9.4% identified as Muslim, 9.5% were Sikhs and less than 1% are Jewish. Nearly 13% of those in the region don't belong to a religious group.

The Peel District School Board's decision will effect 59 elementary schools and over 10,0000 students.

Self-Proclaimed Prophet Interrupts Major Evangelical Church Service

It was what seemed like an ordinary day at Grace Community Church in California when suddenly it was interrupted by a Scottish man who claimed to be a Prophet of God. Pastor John MacArthur was speaking to the major Reformed Church when the man made his way to the front and after pointing at him proclaimed "You've grieved The Holy Spirit of God; your doctrine of Cessationism is in error." While the man's still talking Mr. MacArthur points to one of his security guards; the man continues: "He has been grieved John MacArthur He sent me to tell you that, your sharping the sword and you're cutting each other."

At this point the man is taken down the main aisle of the church where he continues to speak. A video of the event can be viewed here. Pastor MacArthur helped calm the nerves of the congregation by joking: "Do we have a younger Prophet?" He asked after hearing a little one cry out, "Okay I'm going back on vacation." The crowd erupted with laughter. Mr. MacArthur also joked in saying that he thought when the man came up here [on the platform] he was going to sing a solo.

Phil Johnson (An elder and the executive director of the Grace to You radio program which features John MacArthur) was asked about the event by a member of the church. He told the church member that the Scottish man had been in the area for a few weeks and that he was evangelizing. Mr. Johnson also said that similar events weren't unheard of and that something similar had happened three or four times before (that he could remember.)

Pastor MacArthur was asked by an interviewer for Ligonier ministries about what happened. He said he really wasn't concerned about his safety and expressed disappointment in his security team for having not stopped a foreign man coming up to the stage with a backpack on.

The Scottish man's visa had expired so he was forced to return home right after being arrested.

The interview with Mr.Johnson can be viewed here and the full interview with John MacArthur and Dr. Stephen Nichols can be viewed here.

Ten Things Everyone Should Know About Canadian History

1.) The French were the first to settle. The French had been exploring the southern Quebec region since the early 1500's but the first major permanent settlement came in the 17th century. Quebec city was founded in 1608 by Frenchman Samuel de Champain on the St. Lawrence River. The city not only survived, but thrived and is today Canada's 11th largest city. The area that is now Quebec was celebrated and became known as New France. The French worked hard to maintain a relatively friendly relationship with the Native peoples in order to make economic gains in fur trade and for priests, to spread the Roman Catholic faith.

2.) The British invaded New France: In 1763 a treaty known as the Treaty of Paris was signed and New France was handed over to the British after they had lead a successfully military campaign against the French land. English would become the major language over French.

3.) The British helped the Catholic Church become the major church of Canada. According to Statistics Canada 43.6% of Canadians identified as Catholic in 2001. The percentage would probably be much lower if the Government hadn't agreed to fund Catholic education. To this day Canada's two largest Provinces fund Catholic elementary and high schools to the same extent they fund public schools. This in sharp contrast to the American model.

4.)  Treaties were made and treaties were broken. Many treaties were made with the Native nations in order to secure the protection of their lands from both those outside British territory and those within it. Conversation was frequent between the Iroquois and the British. Although hundreds of reserves were created many treaties were broken. In the 1900's the Canadian government created residential schools in a push to integrate Natives into the country, the idea was to "kill the Indian in the child." Conservative Prime Minister Harper Prime Minister became the first to offer an apology in 2008.

5.) Canadians burned down the White House. During the war of 1812 (which only lasted two and a half years) the Canadians fought Americans in the Toronto and the Detroit region They even made their way to Washington DC where they burned the White House to the ground. Something tells me that wouldn't happen today.

6.) Canada became a country in 1867 (91 years after American independence was declared.)
Canada became a Principal of the British Empire on July 1, 1867. July 1st was officially made a holiday in the 1867 British North America Act and is known as Canada Day.

7.) But in a sense it wasn't all of Canada. Most of the Provinces and Territories took decades to join the newly formed country. In 1867 Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia joined the country--but they only represent around 30% of today's Canada. The others joined eventually: Manitoba joined in 1870, British Colombia came the following year and Prince Edward Island joined in 1873. Alberta and Saskatchewan were late comers--they joined in 1905. The latest one to become a Province was Newfoundland in 1949.

8.) Canada wouldn't be the same without World War I. Canada automatically declared war when Britain did on August 4, 1914. Its contributions, especially at Vimmy Ridge (in north-eastern France) was highly honored and it was Canadians who used a Platoon for a first time. World War one changed the world's view of Canada: The Canadians were no longer thought of as mostly lumberjacks and fur-traders but as a significant force in the Great War.

9.) Canada joined world War Two on September 10, 1939--a week after the United Kingdom. Canada's role in World War Two was of course important but when it declared war on Germany is also significant. It was Canada's way of saying "We're with you unto death Mother Britain, but we want to make sure you know we're all grown up now."

10.) Canada's 'Constitution' was created in 1982. Canada's separate Constitution was created 195 years after the American one and differs in a few main areas; for example it has a notwithstanding clause that grants restrictions on rights; it states that it is "subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society." It also says in its preamble "Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:" as opposed to America's which reads "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Shoebat.com Calls Luther 'Satanic'

A website dedicated to informing others about persecution against self-identifying Christians has published an article attacking Martin Luther. In an article written by Thomas King, Martin Luther is said to be "nothing short of a spiritual Jezebel and a Balaam to the Christian Church, or even a modern day forerunner of Nicolaitinism." Mr. King claims "[Martin Luther] despised Moses and also despised the Law of God, it was only logical for him, due to his antinomianism, to encourage others to be lawless and wicked as he was." After quoting a sketchy source wherein Mr. Luther allegedly speaks against following one's conscience the author remarks that "This sounds exactly like something the Nazis and the Communists would say! They had their predecessor in none other than Luther even before Hitler or Karl Marx."

And as a conclusion he writes "Luther clearly shows himself once again not only to be a heretic, but even worse, an antichrist and a devil."

Shoebat.com has been criticized in the past for promoting Catholic views and attacking Protestant ones while at the same time not being openly Roman Catholic as a website.

Shoebat.com archived the article as "featured".

The article was published in the middle of last month.
The full article can be read here: http://shoebat.com/2015/08/07/martin-luther-was-satanic-if-he-were-alive-today-he-would-be-no-different-than-any-of-these-sick-heretics-who-encourage-evil-and-sin/

Pope Makes It Easier for Women who had an Abortion to Rejoin Church

Pope Francis has announced that women who have had abortions can be rejoin his church if they ask forgiveness from a priest ( as oppose to having to go to a Bishop.)

In Roman Catholicism killing a child in the womb is considered a mortal sin; if anyone who commits a mortal sin is found out they are officially excommunicated and thus kicked out of the church. It was already possible for a women who had had an abortion to rejoin the church but she had to spend the time going to the Bishop.

According to Catholic doctrine if a person dies after committing a mortal sin and failing to repent that person will be damned to Hell.

Other mortal sins that the Roman Catholic Church has declared include: Adultery, masturbation, rape, suicide and failing to go to Mass on certain Holy Days. According to the official catechism of the Roman Catholic church: "Mortal sin requires full knowledge and complete consent. It presupposes knowledge of the sinful character of the act, of its opposition to God's law. It also implies a consent sufficiently deliberate to be a personal choice. Feigned ignorance and hardness of heart do not diminish, but rather increase, the voluntary character of a sin.(CCC 1859)

The Roman Catholic Church has long taught that Salvation comes only through it but in Protestant   churches it's different.

Each Protestant denomination has different standards for who should be kicked out of the church. The problem in both Catholicism and Protestantism is that there are people professing to be true believers while continually sinning in grave ways. In Protestantism the majority of churches will accept someone as part of the community so long as they repent and show evidence of a repentant life style. There are two reasons someone is kicked out: holding to heresy or continually sinning without regret.

The practice of kicking people outside of a church goes back to the first century; St. Paul writes about what to do with one man in Corinth who claimed to be a Christian:

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the Name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.-1 Corinthians 5:1-5

The goal then for the first century Christian church was that people should repent so that they may enter the Kingdom of God.
